(मरकुस 14:64) बाद में रोमी गवर्नर, पुन्तियुस पीलातुस ने भी लोगों के दबाव में आकर यीशु को सूली पर चढ़ाने की सज़ा सुना दी।

3. To the Jews in general, it was blasphemous for Jesus’ followers to claim that this impaled man was the Messiah.

दरअसल, यहूदी लोग तो सूली पर चढ़ाए गए यीशु के मसीहा होने के दावे को ईशनिंदा समझते थे।

4. That the one who was condemned by the Great Sanhedrin on a charge of blasphemy and thereafter impaled on a torture stake like an accursed criminal could be the Messiah was thus completely alien, unacceptable, and repellent to their mentality.

इसलिए यह मानना उनके लिए एकदम नया, अस्वीकार्य और घृणित विचार था कि जिसे महासभा ने ईशनिंदा का दोषी ठहराकर एक श्रापित अपराधी की तरह यातना स्तंभ पर लटकाया, वही मसीहा है।
